Change in Tribal Council

Has anyone heard about when the new Council will be seated?  I thought it was supposed to be at the first meeting following the elections.  If so, then Matt, Sharon and Lillian should be out???

All terms commence at the first regularly scheduled tribal council meeting following the annual tribal election conducted in August of each year, and end when a successor is elected and seated in accordance with this ordinance.”  Election Ordinance 402 (b)

      HELLO TRIBAL MEMBERS:

My name is Jessica E. Jim and I am the second term re-elected Tribal Chairwoman for the Pit River Tribe located in northeastern California. I am a member of the Ahjumawi band(a Tribe of 11 bands)federally recognized in 1964 and again in 1987. My signature is assigned to the existing Pit River Constitution as I represented the Pit River Tribal Council at that time (1987). I have been consistently active with my tribal government since 1979. This response is the only one I have made to date and I speak from my heart and mind. I am/was impressed with the largest tribal election turn-out I have ever witnessed (416) and throughout the (1-2) hours I waited with every one else, to cast my ballot and vote for the person of my choice, the comments from my fellow tribal people was "It's time for a change". Indeed there was a significant change by my people. The purpose of this article is to state to every Pit River Tribal member, within or outside the ancestral boundary, that on August 21, 2007 "THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN". The business of the Tribe as a whole has been placed on the back-burner for too long. Our grants and contracts are delayed due to the political turmoil created by a Tribal Administrator, who has forgotten the duties and responsibilities of an Administrator is not to become "politically involved". In Indian country such a critical position is the sucess of a Tribe for business administration and not the campaign manager/co-author of our inter-tribal disputes. I must state that he has been sanctioned by the former Tribal Council(whom many of them were elected out at the elections). The Tribal Council forget they have a responsibility to protect and promote the best interests of the tribal members. They forgot that the membership is the people. They forgot that the Constitution was created for the people and by the people. Now, they remain in office until they are "certified". The elections were held and the Council certifications were completed at the tribal elections. Now, in the record Searchlight newspaper it states that there was "election fraud" and "disputes" are forthcoming. How can the newspaper be informed by the Tribal Administrator when there is a (7) day dispute filing period and only (3) days has passed since the election and he is on vacation? Today, I was served a summons from the PIT RIVER TRIBE, Plantiff vs. Jessica Jim, Marina Martinez and JOHN & JANE DOES: That means any and all tribal members, elected Council persons, elected Tribal officers and anyone that offends or disagrees with the existing Tribal Council. My statement while I was being erved by the Shasta County Sheriffs office was "I am a part of the Pit River Tribe" how can I sue myself? Last week the Superior court Judge (State) denied the temporary restraining order from the Pit River Tribe vs Jessica Jim - stating they lacked jurisdiction. Now what?

One person was arrested on a 'citizens arrest'. The Sheriff said that "Shasta County is taking no
responsibility for the arrest. It was a citizens arrest by Bernice
      Childers."

Is anyone else tired of the bullshit. Can the cowards of pitrivertruths keep their uneducated comments to themselves. It's rags like this that allow the white man like Boyce to point at tribal people and treat us like children. When will we learn that we can be self sufficient and self supportive. When will the few who continue to poison our ranks step down quietly for the betterment of our people. Big mouths like the Elmore's and Lego's bring nothing but shame and disruption to our people. We as a tribe should take a long hard look at their actions / motives and place within our tribe. Why should we allow the few white man boot lickers like the two families to destroy the many. Our people deserve better than what has been. It's unfortunate that the few have allowed a white man to dictate to them what it is to be native.

I understand people who have been mentally, physically and sexually abused and how that has taught them to abuse other people. Their lashing out and struggle for power is a cry for help. Help is what they need to get their head and heart straightened out. It is no excuse for turning on their own people.

Perhaps they should attend Acorn Day on October 20th at the California State Indian Museum in Sacramento. The nuts certainly belong there…

PS: BIA reports they do not indict people. The US Attorney’s office knows nothing of this, but was very interested in the false information and I’ve given them the server records and IP number of the poster.
